In 1992 the UN established December 3rd as a day of observance for persons with disabilities. This year’s theme is “Inclusion matters: access and empowerment of people of all abilities.”
What does that mean to people with hearing loss? ”For the hard of hearing community, inclusion requires access to hearing aids, assistive technology, captioning, cochlear implants and peer and professional support services,” according to the International Federation of Hard of Hearing People (IFHOH), of which HLAA is a member.
